With over half a million views, I feel duty bound to make reference to the Youtube clip of Josh conducting a rendition of "Hey Jude" at Newark airport amongst a few hundred fellow passengers who were also experiencing delays to a flight back in 2010. Having previously released five CDs either side of his airport performance the Arkansas-born songster here weighs in with his 11th recording. This album gets off to a bright start musically and lyrically with the opening two songs, the title track and "This Is the Day", exploring a positivity in putting the past in the past and focus on future hope through grace. It would be easy to draw comparisons vocally and musically between Josh Wilson and Robbie Williams - take for example "Songs I Need To Hear" and "Coming Home". Although one could say that some of the later songs are a bit bland, there's no doubting that Josh is a diverse and competent songwriter and this is evident on this album, which includes some funky bass licks on "This Is The Day" and some deft cello stabs in the song "Don't Let Go". The close mic-ing on the latter in particular added to the vulnerability shown in the lyrical content, as Josh delivers the line "Don't let go/God I'm begging you" with a beautiful falsetto. There's no shortage of originality with the lyrical content, which are often punchy, clever and had this reviewer reaching for his notebook more often than not.

Product Description
The 2012 ASCAP Singer/Songwriter of the Year and Dove award nominee, Josh Wilson, is set to release his sixth studio album titled That Was Then, This Is Now, featuring the title track which is also serves as the first single being added to stations across the country. “That Was Then, This Is Now” is a bold declaration to the transformation that takes place in the hearts of lives of people who encounter the love of Christ, the old has gone and the new has come (2 Cor 5:17). The album shows the complete breadth of Josh’s songwriting all the way from the celebratory pop-driven track “Blown Away” to live life to the fullest to the intimate and reflective ballads of “No More” and “Coming Home.”
