A collection of 20 well known non-contemporary hymns performed by the choirs of three British cathedrals. St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral, Edinburgh is allowed the biggest share, singing nine hymns - though personally, I could barely distinguish between them and the choirs of Norwich and Truro. So this is a fairly seamless set. "Famous" all these tunes may be - and the vast majority most certainly are - but I would suggest that many purchasers will be unfamiliar with a couple - "The God Of Abraham Praise", an ancient Hebrew doxology, and "Come, Holy Ghost, Our Souls Inspire", a medieval plainchant. Be that as it may, this is still a quite reasonable compilation of hymns and a pleasant hour's plus listening. The main drawback is that there's little to distinguish this volume from numerous other equally proficient hymnal collections.
