Compilations put together by budget line companies such as this one have always been eccentric rag bags of tracks. The bulk of the recordings here are ancient country gospel ditties from the likes of Wilma Burgess, the Gatlin Brothers, Johnny Russell, the Jordanaires and the late great Charlie Louvin. But then, for no particular reason, you will find a couple of tracks by Etta James, the '50s and '60s R&B singer whose roots were in blues rather than gospel and was never a Christian. If the idea of low key country versions of well known songs like "O Happy Day", "I'll Fly Away", "Amazing Grace", etc appeals you might want to investigate this odd package.
