It's apparently cheaper to record big orchestras in London than Nashville, so veteran producers Billy Ray Hearn and Ronn Huff went to London, and with the London Festival Orchestra produced orchestral versions of evergreens from American hymnals. As followers of American CCM will know, Ronn Huffs florid arrangements are heavy on the pathos while the trained voices of the Cumberland Choir are suitably straight-laced as they run through "All Creatures Of Our God And King", "What Wondrous Love Is This", "Amazing Grace" and 24 more. There are some talented guest vocalists, Steve Green, John Michael Talbot, Buddy Greene and, most surprisingly, Nichole Nordeman, but these stilted, easy listening hymns have little appeal this side of the pond.
