If you are looking for something new and exciting, do not buy this album. If, however, you are looking for a hymn resource in which you can hear all the lyrics, this crackin' good value three-CDs-for-the-price-of-one could be just the thing for you. All the old favourites make an appearance as do a few new hymns in the form of "I Lift My Eyes To The Quiet Hills", "Christ Is Risen" and "Tell Out My Soul", penned by Timothy Dudley-Smith in the 1960s. The musical arrangements are light in that there is no heavy organ drowning out the choir but there is enough respectful majesty which does justice to the truths expressed. There is enough variation in the vocals, some solo voice, some choir and some mixed to ensure that what is old familiar material retains some freshness. Not an essential album but good for its genre.
