Every so often a collection of songs comes along that seems to be a single resource of all those you want to be singing at the moment, and this album is one of those. If your church is singing the currently popular worship songs then the ones they are singing are probably on here. The characters and arrangements of some (especially the not-so-new-ones) differ from those we are used to (plenty of funky drum rhythms and more than a few jazz chords), but they are always fresh and bring something new, and with big drums and jangly guitars the common denominator is the sense of "anthem". The majority of recordings are from studio projects but there are also a smattering of live recordings. A total music time of almost four hours is spread evenly here across three CDs, with all lyrics provided, and with the writers including Chris Tomlin, Tim Hughes, Andy Bromley, Stuart Townend, Keith Getty, Matt Redman, Paul Oakley and Robin Mark. The only negative point for those interested in such matters is the fact that the performers of the songs are not listed.
