Christmas is the time of year where musically some sensibilities seem to disappear. It maybe a "best of" collection which has been redressed "with bonus tracks" so we all buy the same songs again or as in this case, a CD of mainly well known material put together with a vague title and a reduced price to help you reach for your wallet. Not that this is a bad album, the opener "Deep Peace Of The Gentle Christ" has a wonderful Celtic feel (although why we have to have two versions, vocal and instrumental, is lost on this reviewer) and there is a good version of Chris Eaton's "Saviour's Day" included but not the usual versions by Sir Cliff Richard or Chris. The traditional carol does also appear in the form of an Instrumental with "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear". Keith & Kristyn Getty provide three more modern tracks for those looking for a contemporary feel. However, the impression is that this has been put together in a bit of a rush. For example, there are no artist details and no references to where the tracks are taken from. However, compared to a number of Christmas albums I have reviewed in the past, it remains focussed on the real meaning of Christmas, which is something.
