Along with the re-released ‘Celebrating Together’, South Asian Concern have also released this new double CD, featuring 24 worship songs in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Tamil and Urdu. The three CDs combine (together with a songbook) to form a resource pack for joint Anglo-Asian communal worship. With 24 songs to choose from, picking a favourite is hard – but standout tracks for me include “Speak Jesus’ Name” and the reggae-influenced “We Are All God’s People”. The American group Aradhna contribute a couple of songs, one of which is the moving “Worship Jesus’ Name” (all the song titles are given both in English and the language they’re sung in; I’ve only used the English titles here). The CD also contains computer files with all the lyrics, which can be printed for use with overhead projectors or as hymn sheets. Together with the accompanying book, the whole package is an excellent resource for any fellowship aiming to be more cosmopolitan. Outside a church setting, the album makes great listening, especially if you’re into more chilled-out Asian music.
