Another week, another compilation CD. With a title like 'Absolute All Time Favorites', the one thing you cannot accuse them of is under-selling product. Why don't record companies tell the truth and call them 'Songs You Might Already Own' or 'Tracks You Have Been Meaning To Go Out And Buy, But Haven't'? 'Absolute All Time Favorites' has 20 songs from big hitters like Building 429, Superchick, Amy Grant and Sixpence None The Richer. Many of the tracks have been around for a few years, like BarlowGirl's "Never Alone" and Nicole C Mullen's "Redeemer". It's always a pleasure to hear Amy Grant's "El Shaddai". This version comes from last year's 'Rock of Ages.Hymns and Faith' CD. There's a good mixture of songs, but the emphasis is more middle of the road pop than on cutting edge stuff. This is definitely the Christian equivalent of those compilations which come out every Mother's Day and will go down with the more mature listeners. Younger and more adventurous music fans should look elsewhere though.
