The 'Absolute Modern Worship' album has been a bit of a hit in the States; a double CD of well known worship songs by people like Darlene Zschech, Tim Hughes and Chris Tomlin. But here's the rub: vocals are provided by a wide array of best selling Christian music artists. Sometimes the tracks are taken from existing albums (Ginny Owens, Ten Shekel Shirt, Sonicflood, Lincoln Brewster, Selah, Fernando Ortega) and once or twice the tracks are new recordings. In fact, it's the latter source, a rousing version of David Ruis' "You're Worthy Of My Praise", which brings together the unlikely combination of blue collar rockers Big Daddy Weave with vocals provided by BarlowGirl which gave this album a surprise radio hit Stateside. If you are looking for worship with contemporary pop edge, there are plenty of good cuts here.
