Aled Jones has been presenting Good Morning Sunday on BBC Radio 2 for a couple of years now playing spiritually uplifting music from traditional choral works to more modern fare. It is distinctly middle of the road with nothing up tempo as is fitting for a Sunday morning. Within those constraints there is a huge variety of styles, from the Treorchy Male Choir through the Inspirational Choir, Loudon Wainwright III, Al Green and on to Badly Drawn Boy and Bliss, even a Rick Wakeman rendition of "Morning Has Broken". Famous names are everywhere with Aretha Franklin singing "Border Song", Louis Armstrong performing "Down By The Riverside", Eva Cassidy doing "Wade In The Water" and anyone who has watched Shrek will recognise Jeff Buckley's rendition of "Hallelujah". In all there are 40 songs over the two CDs all of which are quality examples of their genre and all fit together well. While some might question the spiritual roots of some of the songs here, there is nothing to offend and quite a lot to lift the spirit.
