Beth Moore is a top selling author and founder of Living Proof Ministries in Houston, Texas whose latest book Get Out Of That Pit has inspired this collection of songs from some of the biggest names in the US CCM, such as Amy Grant, CeCe Winans and Paul Baloche. There's no one particular musical style that dominates, offering tremendous variety ranging from energetic rock to R&B, snappy pop to contemporary country. A bit of something to suit most tastes indeed. "Hide" from Joy Williams gets us off to a great start with a terrifically energetic and rocky track, complete with Alanis Morrisette-style vocals, followed on by "Free" from Steven Curtis Chapman which starts off at ballad pace then just as you start to wind down, launches into a rousing chorus. The country fraternity will love "Rescue Me" from mainstream star Wynonna. Sara Groves slows the pace with "Hiding Place" which features a powerful orchestral backing. The CD rounds off with "Because Of Your Love" from Paul Baloche which was co-written by Brenton Brown and which does give the song a very familiar Vineyard ring too it. Whatever your musical preference this project is a worthy counterpoint to the book.
