Reviewed by Rebecca Mason Don't get too excited, all you Celtic music fans. This isn't an album of new Celtic tunes. It is a compilation album, put together by Alliance Music, featuring the likes of Iona (surprise, surprise!), Runrig, Terl Bryant and Troy Donockley. It features a track from each artist's most recent album, so chances are if you are into Celtic music you will have most of these anyway. This would make an excellent album if you were looking for an introduction into this genre. However, I think it is a bit misleading to feature songs from Chris Eaton and Joe King, who, even though these are Celtic-inspired songs, aren't exactly known for their Celtic albums, and you might be disappointed if you bought one on the basis of these songs. I personally loved every single track and could rave about each one for hours. Instead, I will just pick out a couple. If you like the music of Maire Brennan, then you will love the exquisite voice of Michelle Tumes on "Rest My Soul". After Michelle is the highly energetic and passionate song "Ceili Rain" by the group Ceili Rain - it's a real foot stomper! I could go on forever, but there just isn't time or space! This is an album full of Celtic spirit - including fiddles, whistles, drums and haunting melodies. If you like anything vaguely Celtic, get this album and you might just find yourself inspired.
