Britain's The Collective describe their aim as offering "a platform for the expression of creative worship across the country to raise up future generations of passionate, nation-changing worshippers." This album offers 10 UK songsmiths who are beginning to gain wider exposure beyond their churches and one or two, like Ian Yates and Ryan Baker-Barnes, are already making an impact in the national worship arena. In fact, the opening track here, Yates' "Christ In Me", is an absolute gem and ever since I first heard it on Ian's 'DNA' album I've been intending to introduce it to my own church's worship band. There are plenty of other talented crafters of worship songs here, like Rugby's Jonny Shepherd and Manchester's Andy Smith, while some of the ministries new to me, like The Bright Expression and Lucy Grimble, certainly don't let the side down. Even if you have one or two of these tracks on independently released albums this is still a compilation well worth searching out as it demonstrates that across Britain's churches there are many grassroots talents with songs to feed and inspire all who hear them.
