This three-disc compilation, dating from 2005, betrays a somewhat limited pool of material to showcase, including as it does at least two tracks from each of the following artists: Commissioned, The Winans, Tramaine Hawkins, Mighty Clouds Of Joy, Andrae Crouch, The Christianaires and Vickie Winans. I would suggest that a collection that seeks to live up to such a grand title really needs more diversity. Fans will be disappointed at the numerous omissions from any connoisseur's "who's who" of modern gospel; what, no Fred Hammond or Bishop TD Jakes? Where's Hezekiah Walker? Donnie McClurkin? Kirk Franklin?! There are better collections available - try any of the annual WOW Gospel offerings for starters. I'm impressed, however, that we have offerings from (count 'em) FIVE different Mass Choirs, namely Chicago, Bronx, LA, Dallas Fort Worth, New Jersey - that's a whole lotta choir!
