Here's a compilation of gospel tracks from some names that are familiar and some that are not. It's a little gateway into the world of Diamante distributed albums and like many compilations it has its moments but this isn't sustained across the whole CD. There are a couple of more traditional pieces from Luther Barnes and Dottie Peoples whilst Angie Winans presents a version of "The Lord's Prayer" set to the old '60s pop tune "Windmills Of My Mind" which to be honest is just a little strange. Not much of this is cutting edge gospel although there are plenty of songs that have a bit of a contemporary feel. It's down to Fairest Hill to record something that sounds like it could have been recorded this century. Pop Winans goes back in the day with "Go Tell It On the Mountain" and Norman Hutchins goes for straight ahead army of the Lord marching gospel with "Battlefield" which is again pretty generic. Overall, a disappointing collection of songs that failed to light my fire.
