Each October, Dollywood (Dolly Parton's theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee} has a month long Harvest Celebration, where Southern gospel music is featured in the Southern Gospel Jubilee. This spiritual celebration of song is the largest Southern gospel music event in the States, and the artists appearing on this special recording are among the featured performers. Having said all that, none of the songs or artists are known to me so it was quite a revealing experience. The 14 tracks are mainly groups, with one instrumental, and include a variety of styles ranging from traditional country to very upbeat modern brass backed items. The tracks I enjoyed most were "Glory To His Name" by The McKameys, "The Least I Can Do" by The Isaacs and "The Truth Will Come Out" by Perfect Heart. The only track I did not enjoy was "Let Freedom Ring" by Karen Peck & New River, as this grated with its lyrics praising the USA as the greatest nation ever. Dolly Parton is pictured on the cover, but she doesn't appear on the album. This is a good album. If Southern country gospel is not normally your scene, give this a try.
