This is not a traditional hip-hop CD, but almost a hip-hop/R&B/soul musical as urban-gospel producers Eric Adjei and Gordon Healis bring together a number of talents from London's urban gospel underground. Quality guitar playing, smooth soulful hooks and brass instrumentation and creative keys play key roles. "Make Your Choice" (featuring Mabel, Simply Andy, OO Den, Triple O and ICIE) is a downtempo smoothly soulful mix, encouraging us to make a choice towards God. "God Is In Control" is more like a rocky worship track, as The Coalition affirm that even when things look bad, God is always in control. "Who Was I" by Lolo Godheld has a grooving and highly soulful edge that is reflected across the CD such as in "More Than" (by Alan 'Tro' Macintosh). Rap takes centre stage in "Man Without A Mirror" (featuring JayEss, R Young and Miz R.A.P.) as we are encouraged to look into God's mirror (his Word) to see if our lives reflect the King. There are some outstanding performances across the CD vocally and musically. While elements of the production could be tightened, overall the producers have assembled a very inventive and soulful CD. It ends with a powerful spoken track with insights into shootings in the black community. We're left in no doubt that only God can bring the transformation needed to heal our streets.
