Putting to one side the intriguing question about what is the purpose of instrumental worship music, this is an excellent example of the genre. The CD title 'Electric Worship' should not frighten off those who demand sensitivity and delicacy as well as volume from their musicians, as there are plenty of examples of both as 15 songs (most well known, and adding up to 60 minutes of music) are presented on this guitar-led Kingsway Music offering. All of the tracks are interesting in themselves and there is good variation and development across the whole CD in terms of sound, rhythm and overall feel. Particularly good jobs have been done on "My Troubled Soul", "Welcomed In To The Courts" and "Here Is Love". There are not many musicians credited on the sleeve, with this being an Andy Green (production, recording, keyboards and programming) and Dan Wheeler (guitars and recording) collaboration, but there is plenty of life in the sound. Both use the flexibility offered by their instruments and machines effectively, and in particular the layered guitar parts are thoughtful and appropriate. To complicate the question posed above, you get the song lyrics with the CD, leaving the potentially tricky question of whether to sing along or just listen?
