You can hardly fail to be moved when politicians and police forces alike praise Christians for their selfless, sacrificial giving to a major sprawling urban community. For those who do not know about last year's mission to Manchester, The Message Trust, together with Manchester churches, devised a social action programme in the inner city to help communities and ran parallel worship events in celebration of God's world and our part in it. This DVD is a high energy snippet of what happened at this momentous crescendo of service. It is punchy, informative and has an outstanding, spine-tingling section of live worship with Tim Hughes and a gospel choir, performing "O Happy Day" and "Light Of The World". For those involved in the festival, this will undoubtedly provide a lasting treasure to a wonderful project. For those who weren't, though, there are a couple of little niggles: you can't help but feel this is a bit of a snippety promo... I would have liked to have seen double the content, twice as much worship and likewise with the documentary. For something as revolutionary as this, a fuller package would have been more helpful. I also hope that the communities touched by all this don't feel like they have been victims of one mass hit and run campaign. Let's remember to pray for Manchester and the follow up, for the unchurched in the city, and for the churches united.
