From the feature film depicting the working life and failing marriage of a Southern States fireman, which became a surprise cinema smash Stateside and has birthed a whole training course where married couples can seek God's help in restoring their marriage comes, at last, the long delayed soundtrack album. Some of the stuff here is so-so orchestral scoring by one Mark Willard but it's the songs plucked from CCM back catalogue which really stand out. There is the hauntingly beautiful "Brighter Days" sung by Leeland. And Third Day rock it up in their usual way in "This Is Who I Am" while the Casting Crowns classic "Slow Fade" has never sounded more atmospheric. the way that only they know how. Interspersed among the songs are musical interludes from the film which I believe are intended to bring back memories of the film as in "Personal Sacrifice". There is a bonus track which is a special remix of John Waller's "While I'm Waiting" which has some clips from the film dotted throughout the song. Methinks it might make you want to go and see what the film is all about.
