Quite why this compilation exists is open to question. I'm not complaining, there are some fine tracks here including CeCe & BeBe Winans, Micah Stampley (with his subtle vocal acrobatics) and Kierra 'Kiki' Sheard and many other well known names. The songs are all available on other albums which range from 1978 up to 2007. Maybe it would be a good introduction to someone you think ought to be exposed to the fine genre known as gospel music and therefore a nice prezzie for one of your musically under-privileged friends. The songs chosen are all quite tasty, it's been some time since I have heard "I.O.U. Me" by CeCe & BeBe and although originally recorded in 1987, it does sound surprisingly fresh. I wonder if it has been subject to some 2008 mastering techniques, the notes on the CD booklet don't tell me, or maybe it was such a great track when recorded it stands up even now. "This Is Me" is the title track from Kierra 'Kiki' Sheard's 2006 album; many people into modern gospel music will already have Kierra's songs. But on a mathematical probability there will be a few tracks that have slipped through the ardent gospel fans net on this compilation.
