Rivaling and sometimes overlapping with the 'WOW Gospel ' series, the combined 'Gotta Have Gospel' double-CD + DVD packages have a competitive edge in value-for-money terms. Prominent on the sixth compilation are Israel & New Breed, with tracks on each disc. "Say So", a fast-paced call to evangelise, is in both formats, but epic ballad "If Not For Your Grace" is on CD only. Spin-off group Sound Of The New Breed pitch in too with the soulful "Jesus Is". Among others making multiple appearances are Fred Hammond, with the characteristically funky "He'll Do It", and reworking "This Is The Day" on the DVD. Marvin Sapp, his former associate in Commissioned, is featured with "Praise Him In Advance" and "Never Would Have Made It" (DVD). One-time backing vocalist for Commissioned, but now an artist in his own right, Byron Cage delivers the appropriately energetic "With All Of My Might", but the opening shots on "If You Never", are somewhat marred by Byron issuing instructions to choir members whilst standing next to featured vocalist Kim Burrell. But at least they take a stand for being satisfied with what possessions, relationships and success we have, unlike Martha Munizzi's "Favor Of God", which reflects her unfortunate espousal of prosperity doctrine. For great entertainment value, I'd recommend Tye Tribbett & G.A.'s "Good In The Hood": a spoof news broadcast on the video adds humour and impact to a track (also on CD2) which sets out to counteract the frequent negative stereotypes of life "in the hood".
