What is a little scary to someone like me, just into his 40s and feeling a little long in the tooth, is that I know and recognise so many of these beauties. They really are 'Greats', doing just what it says on the tin. Fabulous songs such as "Amazing Grace", "Swing Low Sweet Chariot", "Oh Happy Day", "Nobody Knows", "Down By The Riverside", "Wade In The Water" and so many more, brought joyously to us by the likes of the Staple Singers, Dixie Hummingbirds, Etta James, Edwin Hawkins Singers and Mahalia Jackson. There's very little to add to this except to say that they really DON'T write songs like this any more, and no matter what music you're into, this collection is simply ESSENTIAL - no arguments!
