I’ve encountered so many contemporary gospel compilations recently that I wonder whether the EMI suits will soon be reaching saturation point. But there’s no denying the fact that they’ve assembled some serious divas here with Beverly Crawford, CeCe Winans, the late Danniebelle Hall and, best of all, the seriously wonderful Clark Sisters turning in their hot “It’s Gonna Be Alright”. But as usual with such albums, not all the singers here are well known, let along “great”, while the stylistic switches from live church whoop-ups to inspirational balladry to funky R&B style makes for no continuity. But, as I said, there’s some serious vocal talent showcased here.
