Rocketown Records, the Nashville label founded by CCM superstar Michael W Smith, has a pretty good roster of artists so I suppose it was a reasonable idea to get them into the studio and record worship songs many of which were written by the artists themselves. And sometimes the affect here is truly moving, like the hymn-like “Your Renown” by Shawn Groves and the haunting voice and piano version of “All I Want To Do” by Ginny Owens. But the production is so laid back that tracks began to blur one into the next. Even the unquestioned vocal talents of Chris Rice, Watermark, Out Of The Grey and Ronnie Freeman fail to spark a great deal of passion. Also the three live tracks, “produced and arranged by Michael W Smith” as the front sticker proudly proclaims, seem like an afterthought. Not without merit, but probably an album far too low key to attract large numbers of CD buyers.
