A partnership of songwriters and worship leaders from the International House Of Prayer in Kansas City are behind the 13 songs here, and quite a varied offering it is. Setting a relatively chilled mood of waiting on God at the outset is Tim Reimberr's "See Me Through" - gentle acoustic sounds, overlaid with some powerful guitar as it reaches it climax. Only this and finale "Daughters Of Jerusalem" by David Brymer are actually performed by the songwriter, elsewhere it's a mix and match to the writing and performance credits. Reflecting on and responding to God's mercy, "Bless The Lord" has a more rhythmic approach, and "Stir Up The Flame" probably packs the most punch, pounding drums and driving guitar adding urgency to its prayerful lyrics. Adding to the stylistic variety, "Lift Him Up" features slide guitar and gospel-influenced choir over an interestingly-syncopated groove. Generally though, the preferred modus operandi, adopted in tracks like "I Will See Your Glory" and "You Will Not Relent" seems to be to start quiet(ish), then to build in volume and passion later in the song. More powerful worship from the amazing IHOP team.
