As far as compilations of new songs go this is more than healthy in its sheer size. 50 songs over three CDs arranged in alphabetical order to compliment a CD ROM music resource should get the attention of worship teams across the country. The collection of songs here just about avoids the filler-packed fate of many a compilation - but the real talent and invention of the more established writers tends to outshine the up and coming artists on show. Both Geraldine Latty and Brenton Brown come off very well, showing a desire to explore the worship genre beyond its major key constraints, combining refreshing melody and inspiring lyrics, though Ms Latty's soulful creations might be a tad too demanding for some congregations. Brenton's "Everlasting God" is everything a modern worship song should be, simple yet intriguing, and utterly real as he writes through his circumstance. UK artists Matt Redman and others perform covers of the anthemic "Indescribable" and Dave Crowder's pop punk declaration "There is no one like you" with real passion to add a cross Atlantic flavour to the collection. Well worth a dabble.
