Never usually quite sure about charity records, but the selection of big names in Celtic pop grabbed me on this particular offering. With all proceeds going to Teen Challenge Ireland, is this worthy of the good cause it supports? Marie Brennan opens with a breathy rendition of 'Heal This Land' with usual production sound so familiar on Brennan tracks. The mood changes from floaty Celtic to gentle pop ditty 'You're So Precious" sung by Fran Frawly, comple with moody, melodic guitar. Joseph signs a throaty 'After The Pain' full of not-very-rocky 'All Over The World' with its ephemeral vocals and slices of guitar. Yum yum! Back down to the acoustic sound of Yvonne Roland and Brenda Burrows accompanied by guitar and nice harmonies. Quirky lads Halcyon Days have toned it down for the mellowness of this recording. The wonderfully named Oranges At Half Time come up with the upbeat 'Stress' complete with twangy guitar solo which fades into oblivion. The album closes with the haunting keyboard instrumental 'Misty Sunrise' by Ruth Robinson, ending the whole recording on a downbeat, mellow note. If you're attracted by electric sounds and are apt to keep your musical options open, you'll like the diversity on this. If you're expecting crunchy, robust Celtic rock, you're looking in the wrong place. But for some moody, melodic pop, this could be your thing. All in all, a nice little collection af songs to have on your turntable.
