Yet more worship compilations? Maybe, but I can think of some good reasons why these two CDs might be worth considering. For a start, the songs have been cherry-picked from recent Kingsway, Survivor and Emerge releases - original studio or live recordings by Matt Redman (plus soundalikes Tim Hughes and David Gate), the Stoneleigh Band, Robin Mark, Brian Houston and others. If you don't buy a whole lot of worship albums either volume should give you a reasonable taste of their latest material. Songbook tie-ins are always helpful for musicians too - The Event Songbook 2001/2002 covers most tracks here. Volume One's standout numbers are a searing live rendition of "Open The Eyes Of My Heart" from the Paul Oakley Band, the brooding "Rain" (Yfriday) and Stuart Townend's "In Christ Alone" with superb lead vocals by Phatfish's Louise Fellingham.
