Independent label CMN have put together what is quite frankly a pretty stunning selection of non stop groovy grabbers that are indeed the perfect soundtrack for a party. The fact that this would be a sanctified party (what other kind are there?) only adds to the attraction. With a wider sound than the familiar N-soul acts, you get furious R&B from K-2-S and Barry D which set the tone, but this compilation skips styles without missing a beat and English toaster Tindai contributes a couple of reggae tracks - "Exceedingly Abundant" is pure Scripture set to sunshine whilst his "Take Glory" closes the compilation making sure that the listener is in no doubt where all this music is headed!! UCB/Cross Rhythms have been pumping out the joyful R&B of Bi-Faith's "Never Alone" (reminiscent of Out Of Eden) and The Cross Movement's hip hop radical masterpiece "Test It" on high rotation because they are both solid classics! Blood Brotherz take the popular chorus Excellent and dabble with a lilting Reggae feel but don't deliver the knockout punch of some of the other songs here. Hu White's two Soca tracks "Sing Hallelujah" and "He's Always There" which are full of fun and rap artists Lordz Ambassador, Rohin and Mark J all contribute some no nonsense rhymes and steady beats for your feet. Overall CMN have a superb ear for new talent, I've already reviewed The Cross Movement's album elsewhere on these pages, just can't wait for some of these other acts to extend their recorded repertoire. Party on dudes!
