This three-CD set is billed as "60 of the most popular songs and hymns for today's Church." Popular they may have been at one time, for today's Church they certainly are not. There is not one single song written in the '90s here! I'm not denying that many churches will still sing many of these songs, but surely we have moved on from these very dated treatments of "You Laid Aside Your Majesty", etc. As is usual with Kingsway reissues, there are no artist/source-album credits on the sleeve (a shoddy device that does Kingsway no credit) and some of the tracks here must be almost 20 years old! Basically it's a hotch potch that we could manage without. Some of these are worship songs that I loved singing when they were fresh, but I'd rather remember them as part of my worship than listen to these mostly insipid and unexciting versions. If you want them for your archives, fine, but I wouldn't recommend them as inspirational listening.
