David Heming, Simon Bernard-Smith and Keith Routledge are all well known virtuosos of their instruments (sax, panpipes and piano respectively) playing well known worship songs/choruses originally done by people like Kendrick, Rinaldi and even 2nd Chapter Of Acts (Simon Bernard-Smith's surprisingly effective version of "Easter Song"). Oh, and occasionally these seasoned British musos turn to their hymnals as well. These aren't new recordings of course and originally stemmed from three albums, 1993's 'Praise Him On The Saxophone', 1994's 'Praise Him On The Panpipes: Lead Me To The Cross' and 1996's 'Praise Him On The Piano' which in itself was a reissue of a 1991 album, 'Worship His Majesty'. So there you have it, competent instrumental renditions, useful for meditative purposes (and if you're a bookshop manager, to play in your shop as customers browse) but hardly the kind of thing to make you leap from your knees in a spontaneous song of praise. Or maybe they could. After all both material and performance are pretty good.
