'Pure Worship 3' is a 32 track double CD filled with a delicate and eclectic blend of modern worship songs from a variety of artists. There are 16 studio recorded songs to be found on the first CD, cleverly labelled 'CD One', and 16 songs recorded live on 'CD Two'. This is a fine selection of a broad taste of worship available today and manages to feature a lot of British contributions (featured artists include Matt Redman, Stuart Townend, Lara Martin, Kate Simmonds, Martin Layzell). The production is excellent, the sound crisp and although I found some of the harmonies mildly irritating (particularly on "Over The Mountains And The Sea") these are nice arrangements of songs that may well differ from those you've heard before: which in some cases is good and others not so great - tracks six and 12 of 'CD Two' are beautiful songs that didn't get a fair shout on this occasion, but track three is awesome ("I Enter In" by Beth Stevens)! There is a lot to be said for releasing an album featuring half the tracks recorded live and half in a studio. The studio songs "kick" a lot more which I found managed to develop much better musically, however the live songs had a much more flowing and passionate feel to them. If you've never heard some of these songs before then you could do a lot worse than be introduced to them in this recording, particularly if you're a worship leader looking for ways to play them in church.
