This is a lovely album, from start to finish it is full of really good music that is varied and full. Flowing from the start is Canada's brilliant songsmith Steve Bell whose "Stay Awake" has an intimate yet steel feel. Signpost Music was set up in 1989 by Bell to promote his own music but over the years has grown to incorporate fine Canadian talents Jacob Moon, Fergus Walsh, Carolyn Arends plus many more. The recording quality of this album is very high indeed and the compilation of songs from relatively unknown artist is exceptional. Bell's own compositions are particularly good; his second track "Ever Present Need", written with his wife, is a laid back and easy to listen to ministry song, which touches the heart! "We Will Overcome" (Moon) is a brilliant acoustic version recorded live for his 'Landing' album in his hometown of Hamilton, US. His lyrics and guitar style are Celtic and has a Irish lilt to it. Adding to that feel is Fergus Walsh with "Worthy" from his album 'Spirit Moves'; the sound of this particular track is unique on the album yet blends well with the tracks around. From Celtic to easy country this album has it all, America's hugely underrated Bob Bennett offers two songs "Angels Around Your Bed", and "A Life That's Not My Own" add a rich blend of smooth vocals which remind one of Grizzly Adam's (Thom Pace 'Maybe' 1976 RCA). All in all, this is an excellent album to sit in the sunshine in the garden and listen to over a cup of tea.
