I don't often get enthusiastic about various artists' albums of "previously recorded material": often they are tenuously themed odds and sods cobbled together from sources good, bad and indifferent. However, when Hosanna! Music puts its collective corporate mind to it. something good usually comes along, and this is a beaut! Other record companies please note: the sleeve notes contain full details of singers, composers, copyrights and source albums, which reveal that these are original recordings drawn from 12 years of Hosanna! output. Amongst the 30 tracks are songs from such well known names as Darlene Zschech, Graham Kendrick, Alvin Slaughter, Ron Kenoly, Chris Bowater, Darrell Evans and Don Moen, along with the best of some of those early releases from the late '80s, and such is the quality of those oldies they don't suffer a lot in the comparison. Having endured much recently in the way of warmed up leftovers (my phrase is "cottage pie compilations "), I'm delighted to be able to recommend this one.
