Here's an excellent and genuinely absorbing compilation from a record label/distributor, Praise Revolution Records, out of Morristown, Tennessee, who have clearly got their hands on a dazzling array of albums from the vast oceans of independent releases now out there. There's some tremendous pop/rock from a delightful girl-led band called Room To Be; gutsy hip hop from Unity Klan; roots reggae from Christafari; and an excellent singer/songwriter in Sara Groves. But here's the twist. Not only are clever ol' Praise Revolution wanting to bring neglected American talent to the wider public, they're also well aware of the underground revolution that is going on in Britain's independent music scene. So this sampler offers cuts from the UK acts like One:Lite, TVB and Evergreen. There's even an MP3 track by Urban Militia (the great band out of Redland Studios formerly known as Hyperdust) - so hot even Cross Rhythms haven't received a copy from source yet! I heartily recommend you check out Praise Revolution Records. They're doing a pioneering work.
