I always approach kids’ albums with some measure of trepidation, as the standard is usually mediocre to say the least. The sleeve of this gives cause for hope, devoid as it is of silly childlike cover art (although the lack of full artist credits is annoying). Things get off to a superb start with the very happening “Meet With Me”. I always think that a good kids’ album is one that youngsters would think really cool to sing on, and this sets things going in just the right direction. Things continue in a very positive vein, through a creditable version of Darlene’s seminal “Shout To The Lord”, Delirious?’ “I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever” and Darrell Evans’ “Trading My Sorrows”. The styles vary from rock to dance, country and ballads and the young soloists really aren’t half bad. Okay, this compilation is very American, but the kids do sound like they’re having a good time.
