If you've not gathered yet what the 'Songs 4 Worship' series is all about let me explain it's the result of a marketing link up between a huge secular corporation (Time Life) and the biggest praise and worship companies (mainly Integrity, Maranatha! and Vineyard) to repackage their biggest recordings and songs for a TV generation with the resulting double CDs getting mainstream (and Christian) TV advertising. 'Songs 4 Worship' have been a huge success, though I wonder, now that we're on to (by my count) the sixth in the series, it's getting a little thin. Plus, on this set, it's a little odd to hear Delirious? doing "Shout To The North" and the Stoneleigh Band's "Once Again" in such middle of the road surroundings (other recordings here by Andy Park, Scott Underwood, Darlene Zschech, the Maranatha Singers and even 1985's "Hosanna" by Carl Tuttle during his Vineyard days, are by and large firmly easy listening in style). Also, the majority of tracks being live recordings occasionally leads to a lack of continuity from one track to the next. But with so many classic songs, this package still has its merits.
