Originally released in '97, this particular compilation album is a fine example of what's currently happening in the Christian hard-music scene. Whilst perhaps not as accessible or varied as Vol 2, 'Songs...Vol 1' enables the listener to sample, at a very reasonable price (a crumpled fiver should do it!), 21 songs by 21 different artists covering a huge spectrum within the genre. Of particular note are Puller ("6x6"), Everdown ("Esy") and the superb hard-core tones of Sweden's Blindside ("Nerve").
