When it comes to rock compilations, this series, now in its fourth volume, has been consistently high in quality. It's a simple premise. Tooth & Nail gather together the cream of their recent releases and put 22 new tracks on one CD and let you sample a pile of great rock tracks. Can't go wrong with this and along the way you have the opportunity to make friends with loads of new music! Highlights? The Juliana Theory's "To The Tune Of 5000 Screaming Children" had me wanting to hear the whole album - huge sound. Squad Five-0's "Bombs Over Broadway" is the perfect opener - immediately catchy and energetic. Good bands like Dogwood, Calibretto 13, The Dingees and Puller I'd already enjoyed by reviewing their albums elsewhere but there's plenty here that I want to follow up. Ace Troubleshooter (great name) are chunky power-pop whilst Fanmail put plenty of energy into "Shut Your Mouth". Other standouts are Blenderhead's all out attack on "Twinkle Insanity Verdict" and The Deluxtone Rockets new wave swing style "Judgement Day". If you want to find fresh rock'n'roll, start here.
