Although Matt Redman's name along with Martin Smith's appear on the cover, I got the feeling that this CD is best suited to those older in years than the aforementioned writers. This was confirmed when Aunty Winnie, who was round for Christmas dinner, remarked, quite unsolicited, that these were "lovely songs", in fact there may have been a little "oooh" at the beginning of her remark adding emotion to her critique. Sometime later, during pudding my mother-in-law offered a similar opinion, again without any prompting. Using a variety of nameless, but very good, singers (including one who has an excellent Cliff-type voice) Chris Norton keeps the arrangements simple, letting the songs themselves do the work. Most of the 14 songs I knew pretty well which range from the late '80s to mid '90s. It was interesting to hear "God Is Good All The Time" in a calypso/reggae pastiche rather than it's normal country style.
