This is a promotional film leading up to the Soul In The City initiative which has now of course taken place, so it's a bit strange having to review this but basically it serves as an indication of the planning, preparation and organisation that goes into such an initiative. The formula, for want of a better word, was to hit London in the same way that festival:manchester hit there, ie to combine music outreach events with community based projects around the city. The enthusiasm of the young people who are interviewed and are involved in it really is a joy to see. There are also interviews with some of the artists involved such as Andy Hunter and Tim Hughes, and some footage from Soul Survivor 2003. In addition to the video there are also some featured audio tracks from some Soul Survivor albums.
