Beginning with the five-category-nominated sister duo the Campbell Sisters (known to you and I as Mary Mary), the album gets into its urban vibe with "Ordinary People", from their 'Incredible' album. From here it takes a different turn with the foot stomping, hand clapping vibe of the traditional track "As Long As I Got King Jesus" penned originally by the late James Cleveland. A track featured on the multi Stellar Award-winning album 'Bringing It All Together' from the one and only Vickie Winans. A couple of my favourite tracks would have to be "You Are Holy" from Lisa McClendon's first release on Integrity Gospel - which ironically happens to be a bonus track and not one of the nominee artists/albums - and the praise and worship of Byron Cage on "Glory To Your Name" - just fantastic! One of the things with compilation albums is finding the right tracks to have an effective balance and ultimately a marketable product. The Stellar Awards are certainly high profile and as a result feature some high profile artists as well as artists just beginning to be recognised in the industry. In recommending this album I would describe it as a mixed, yet balanced bag of urban, contemporary and traditional gospel tracks which would appeal strongly to the occasional buyer who wants to get a taste of what's available in the market. Regular buyers may have most of the albums, but I'm sure they've a friend who hasn't.
