A charity album designed to raise money for NCH as part of the House Our Youth initiative to alleviate homelessness amongst Britain's 240,000 homeless aged 16-25. Three CDs packed with exclusive tracks from the likes of Boy George, Cast, Fatboy Slim, Texas and the Fun Loving Criminals. So why are we reviewing it in the esteemed pages of Cross Rhythms? Because dear reader, mixed in amongst the famous and not so famous we have a fine smattering of British Christian acts! And it makes for surprising listening! Hydro team up with Static to remix their "Liquid Prayers" slowing it down, giving the track a completely different groove, Ikon's "El Plastiquo" builds from a slow start into nearly eight minutes of intense ambience. Moby's haunting and evocative "Memory Gospel" builds around a gentle drum loop with a distorted sample of a gospel voice punctuating proceedings. Psalmistry hook up with Smith & Mighty for an ambient jungly "Steppin'" and then perhaps the most surprising contribution occurs. Matt Redman teams with Amethyst for "Nothing To Declare" for his second clubland tune following the remix that recently appeared on 'Jumping In The House Of God 3'. I'm encouraged by the fact that these Christian artists can stand shoulder to shoulder with other acts on this comp and if you like club music, there's plenty for you to get stuck into here.
