Gotee have been responsible for giving the world some of the most exciting Christian music in the past three years. This compilation gives you the chance to check out their established artists as well as checking out some of the newer talent. So you get a couple of R&B pop tunes from the girl trio Out Of Eden's 'More Than You Know' and the title track from the groundbreaking reggae band Christafari's 'Valley Of Decision' album. If you haven't discovered GRITS' incredible 'Factors Of The Seven' rap release from earlier this year then the two songs here will whet your appetite, especially my favourite "People Noticin' Me". The stunning thing is how much depth there is to this label's catalogue. By comparison to the high standards elsewhere the recent Curious Fools release was a bit of a disappointment for me (but another CR reviewer gave it 10 squares). Johnny Q Public have already established themselves as one of the most exciting rock bands around and "Violet" gives a taste of what is to come on their new album, lots of energy! Of the newer artists, there's still more diversity and the chance to check out rock band Zilch's anthemic "In The Sky" and the intriguing R&B pop sound of Small Talk. Can't wait to hear a full album from this lot! Jennifer Knapp's gentle, almost country-tinged acoustic ballad stands as a sudden breath of peace in an otherwise very 'up' album. Gotee have obviously diversified and the results deserve to be checked out. High quality!
