I'm American and even though I'm probably going to get in trouble with you cool Brits for saying this, I have to say it - I LOVE the Dove Awards! Every year, I look forward to sitting around the TV, watching my favourite Christian artists perform looking all excited and pretty! Here are 14 of the best Christian artists of the year, including songs by Mark Schultz, Nicole C Mullen, Jaci Velasquez, Jars Of Clay and Sixpence None The Richer. The thing that surprised me though was that some of these songs aren't the most successful songs that the artists were nominated for. The reason? Big, mean record companies didn't let little Pamplin Records put the top songs on this compilation. That's why! So you won't get Nicole C Mullen's huge hit "Redeemer", but her "Shooby" is pretty good. But when it comes to Mark Schultz, "He's My Son" was his big one that broke into mainstream radio and what do we get? "I Am The Way". Other artists like Sixpence, Jars and FFH all have second division rather than premier league songs on this comp. The result? Record company politics have weakened this album so we have all the right artists but not their best songs. Shame! This could have been amazing, but now it's just good. (8 squares) Megumi Nakamura
