Reviewed by Steve Best The first of what will eventually be a three part collection (future releases will be 'His Birth' and later 'His Life'), this has been largely written and produced by The Choir's Steve Hindalong and Marc Byrd and many tracks were originally released in the 'City On A Hill' series. Here the assembled recordings take us on a journey of remembrance, calling the listener to follow in Christ's steps. Featuring CCM luminaries such as Third Day, Paul Colman, Phil Keaggy, Jars Of Clay and the late lamented Sixpence None The Richer, this is a lovingly assembled and performed pop meditation, highlights of which are Derri Daugherty, Paul Colman, Sara Groves and Jars Of Clay's Dan Haseltine on "Jesus Went To The Garden", Leigh Nash's simple but effective choral "Kyrie Eleison", Nash again with Haseltine on "With Every Breath" and Cliff & Danielle Young joined by Phil Keaggy on "Communion". Although there's no overt tie-in, there is a centre insert about Mel Gibson's Passion movie, and during a season where many thoughts are turning to the subject of Christ's suffering and death for all mankind, this is indeed a timely release.
