Originally conceived in the shadow of the events of September 11th 2001, this collection of worship songs was the brain child of Mothers' Union manager Clare Berry who takes lead vocal duties on the majority of the album. It's a selection of traditional and modern worship songs delivered in a MOR style with some help from The Equity Choir and simple piano and guitar arrangements. So "Amazing Grace", "When I Survey" and Ave Maria" rub shoulders with "Shout To The Lord", "Great Is The Lord" and "Our God Is An Awesome God". It's all good in theory and an excellent idea. However there is one serious problem! Clare Berry's voice lacks the tunefulness or phrasing to pull this off. Frequently singing flat, the results are sadly painful, not just here and there but throughout the whole project. This is the MU's first foray into making music but on the evidence of this, they would be better advised to stick to making jam.
