The Prince Of Egypt is the first motion picture ever to release three albums concurrently: the soundtrack, 'The Prince Of Egypt: Inspirational' and this one, which also must break another record with the 130 names listed in the credits, it is labelled 'Nashville', not 'country' which is just as well as Gary Chapman and Stephen Curtis Chapman must reside on the distant shores of country music. A lady called Beth Nielsen Chapman (what a lot of Chapmans!) brings us a gentle ballad which Jochabed could have sung as she placed Moses in the river Nile, and this is the theme of what is one of my two favourite songs, the gentle bluegrass number "I Give You To His Heart", sung and produced by Alison Krauss. In my other favourite, Pam TiIIis continues this theme superbly with the thought that Moses was "Milk And Honey" bound. Randy Travis, Linda Davis, Vince Gill, Faith Hill, Reba (who seems to have dropped the "McEntire"), Alabama and several lesser known artists join in with a range of country and neo-country material. Charlie Daniels brings the 71 minutes to a close with some driving country rock as Moses asks himself "Could It Be Me?" There are at least six tracks going on to the Country Music Box playlist. One note of caution though: watch out for a couple of lyrics that have several of us here at UCB puzzled.
